The EA housing has the capacity for 2 catalyst elements. In the situation where only one is needed why is it recommended to place in the space furthest from the inlet?

Computer models indicate that the best flow path is with the element in the downstream location. Field testing indicates that on a rich burn application, lower emissions can be obtained by installing the element in the upstream location
