Verticle vs. Horizontal

Is a vertically mounted silencer or catalyst element more efficient than a horizontal cooler mounted? If so where is the efficiency gained?

Thank you. I had not thought about the performance when located closer to the manifold.

Vertical / horizontal has little or no bearing on the performance of a catalyst, if you are referring to mounting closer to the manifold vs. on top of the cooler, the performance is gained by the additional heat in a lighter loaded application, when the catalyst is mounted close to the manifold, this can work against you in a fully loaded application with too much heat.
